Phil Misecko
Assistant Superintendent

Phil Misecko is in his second year at Hanover Community Schools. His first year there he was the Principal at Jane Ball Elementary. This year he is the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the corporation.

We asked Phil to share some of the things that he has been working on in his time at Hanover. He said, “HCSC is a great place because of the collective work of so many great educators.” Last year, as the principal, he worked on making sure they were implementing a phonics program that was aligned with the Science of Reading curriculum. This year, his time has been spent on a variety of items. It is Phil’s responsibility to make sure the leaders and staff are supported in their work on implementing Hanover’s strategic plan. Their strategic plan includes:

  • Being STEM-certified district wide.

  • A systemic approach to classroom instruction and student learning enriched by meaningful professional development. As well as making sure curriculum maps are aligned with updated Indiana Academic Standards.

  • Setting and monitoring measurable goals for student learning.

  • Making sure all students receive the intervention and enrichment instructional supports needed for success.
  • Building partnerships with businesses, to provide our students with work-based learning opportunities and internships.

Phil’s dream is that legislature would provide adequate funding to Indiana school districts so all educators including those that serve HCSC can be compensated to reflect their immense importance and value in our society.

When asked what he finds most rewarding about his job, Phil shared, “Working with the great staff, students, and community in the Hanover Community School Corporation. There are so many great people who are passionate about providing all students with rich learning opportunities.”

In his spare time, Phil enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife like to go golfing, They also like to go to sporting events at Purdue with their youngest daughter. Phil also enjoys reading, walking, and smoking different meats in his Traeger. Brisket is his favorite thing to smoke.
