Executive Director Notes

As we enter the holiday season and break, make certain that you take the opportunity to enjoy your family and friends. The endless hours you dedicate to our youth is a true blessing and makes a lasting impact. YOUR IMPACT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Remember to take care of yourself over the holidays as this is a time to rejuvenate your mind and body.

Keep doing great things for kids!

Cooperative Purchasing

School corporations can save time and money by utilizing the CIESC web-based bus purchasing program.  With this program, a district buying one bus gets the same price as a district ordering 20 buses.

Member Spotlight

Dr. Peggy Buffington
Superintendent

Dr. Peggy Buffington is the Superintendent at School City of Hobart. She has been with the corporation since 1988.

In the last year, Dr. Buffington has been focusing her efforts on Early College, which are FREE opportunities for Hobart students to earn a credential at Hobart University (K-12 Initiative). Hobart was also the proud recipient of the EEE Grant (partnering with Ivy Tech to expand career pathways) and putting maker spaces in every school.

Dr. Buffington has many future goals and dreams for the corporation. She would love every student to have attended pre-school. She wants to continue to grow the number of students who graduate as Brickies with college credentials (certificates, technical certificates, Indiana College Core or Associate’s Degrees) and industry certifications. She would also like to see the college partners help with stackable credential plans to deliver for students to ensure that degree completion is obtainable.

We asked Dr. Buffington what she finds the most rewarding about her position. She shared, “I love when students talk to me and know that we want them to be successful and safe. I especially love graduation when we celebrate early college and CTE credentials earned as our students are celebrated and embark on their new journey of life.”

In her spare time, Dr. Buffington is an avid gardener.
