As we navigate through the last few months of the 2023-2024 school year, you will be extremely busy with assessments, field experiences, preparing for the 2024-2025 school year and of course “surprises." Tonia Batesole
Director of Food Service

Tonia Batesole is the Director of Food Service at Porter Township School Corporation and has been there for 10 years.

Tonia was one of the first 5 Directors to graduate from the ISNA/IDOE Director Certification program; She is currently on the IDOE commodity advisory committee; ISNA professional development committee; IDOE Farm to School committee and she is the current ISNA Region 1 Representative. Tonia was also the ISNA 2022 "Super Star Service Award" winner. This award is recognition for outstanding dedication to the child nutrition program and for devoted service to the children of Indiana.

In the last year, Tonia has been increasing the amount of fresh vegetables that the kids are eating and she has been trying to be creative with the menus. It is her goal to create a more scratch cooked menu that the kids and staff will both be excited about as well as increase participation. Tonia shared that one of the best parts of her job is watching the kids try new foods. She is also proud of the amazing staff at Porter. Without them, none of the crazy ideas they come up with would be possible to complete.

In her spare time, Tonia enjoys spending time with her family. She likes to watch her kids play sports and ride the motorcycle with her husband. She is most proud of her kiddos, they have big kind hearts and they put a lot of hard work into school, sports, and the arts. Her family has been blessed with amazing friends, co-workers, and extended family. With the support of all of them, her family has made it through some tough times in the past 2 years. They were told their oldest son had cancer and 9 months later her husband started having heart and artery problems. Her son has been cancer free for 1 year now! They are still working on getting her husband's health back in order but things are heading in the right direction. She would also love to take a vacation to Hawaii someday.
